John Dvorak proposed the creation of an .xxx top-level domain to make it easier to prevent what he then described as a porn storm. These were self-spawning pornography page attacks that took place on the desktops of unsuspecting users.
I have not always seen eye to eye with John, but I'll say this is a good piece (mind you, I'm not sure I'm buying the 'this was my idea all along' bit, but I'm sure he probably did mention it long ago).
